latex/mathjax formatting hint #Equations

Another typesetting right.

In mathjax/latex, instead of using \bigg for surrounding expressions, it is best to user \left and \right.

For example, use

\[\left[ \theta + \frac{ \pi}{2} \right] \]

instead of

\[\bigg[ \theta + \frac{ \pi}{2} \bigg]\]

This is because \bigg doesn't scale very well to different sizes.

Delmar

Is there a way to make /left and /right work for Dirac braket notation instead of using \big?

Josh Halpern

Try

\left|    \right\rangle as in

\left| \dfrac{a}{b} \right\rangle
