Many of the texts/projects that are harvested have their own style. We preserve then since changing them is not at the top of our list of things to so. My preference is adding something like

I favor flexibility and allowing faculty to chose their preference.
However, having the questions in one area in a chapter provides that flexibility as we can transclude them

That is because the page is not rendered correct below. All that white space means your HTML is screwy and thus mathjax does not render properly (even if written correctly) above.
