Glossary Input and formatting
Sadia Mahtaban
Hello,
After I inputted some glossary terms, I did not see the tool tip pop up for the words on the page. Is there supposed to be another way we link them? Also, is there a script to alphabetize the words in the glossary table? -Sadia

Unable to Compile...
Patrick McClanahan
I just remixed some material I need for this semester. Moved in into my Campus folder, set it to public - BUT - can't compile and there are no download options.
Is there something I need to wait on for a new mix?? Is there some setting I need - did I need to move it out of the sandbox? set it to Public??

Re: Is there a way to make pages that won't show up in the chapter listing?
Delmar Larsen
Anna: It appears part of the code didn't process through the forum properly. I updated the complete text to Chapter 3. This is CSS and should go in a CSS block. You can add that from the style options in the editor or just copy the top HTML code from the Chapter 3 top level and past into the other sections. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you. Re: Is there a way to make pages that won't show up in the chapter listing?
That will do perfectly! I understand the desire not to add more tags. However, it doesn't seem to have worked yet--but maybe I need to wait for something to compile? I'm looking at Chapter 3 and the pages I want to hide from the TOC are 3.8.1, 3.8.2, and 3.10.1. I put the code at the top of their HTML. Should I move it?
Thanks!
Anna

We can make this a standard thing over the page setting, but I am trying to avoid complicating things. For now, if you paste this code into the HTML of the relevant pages, it will do what you want: .mt-listings-simple li {
display:none !important;
}
Let me know if this works or doesn't for you. Delmar

Re: Using the Jupyter tool in a page
Ethan Turner
Hi JoEllen,
The easiest way to do this is to attach your file to the textbook page (Attachments towards the bottom), then copy the link to the file once it's been uploaded. Section 5.2 of the Construction Guide has a visual tutorial for uploading (Add Data heading) and language-specific links for using the attached file. Hope this helps! Ethan

Re: linking to equations
Seeburger, Paul (Mathematics)
Bob,
These do work great within the same page and they do renumber appropriately when transcluded, etc.
But there is not a very good method in place yet (that I am aware of) for referring reliably to equations or theorems in other sections of a book. I think anchors and links have been used, but it's somewhat fragile, as it only works within a single book
and breaks (or behaves in a likely undesirable way) when transcluding sections. That method also does not auto-renumber the equation labels.

Should I be using \label{xyz} to tag the eq, and \ref{xyz} to call it?
and does that then work if someone else reuses it?

linking to equations
Robert Belford
What is the best way to link to an equation, where the link has the equation number and it gets changed if someone reuses the page? I thought we used to use labels, but I want to say, according to eq. 17.1, do this.... And if some reuses it, allow the numbering to realign. Dr. Robert E. Re: content reuse
Robert Belford
You can ignore the links as I redid this to avoid the issue. But the core question is still there, do transcluded sections update image numbers? I am assuming they do not, as that was what I remember from prior efforts at this. (They align with chapter numbers, but not figure numbers) Cheers, Bob

content reuse
Robert Belford
I set up a "general information" section for a lab manual where material can be reused in multiple experiments, This is my section 0.4.3 for Absorbance Spectroscopy, I used the dekiscript for content reuse to embed the "absorbance spectroscopy" section into this place, but changed the heading from H2 to H3, as I wanted this in the background section of the experiment. I have two questions (1) The first image of the transculded section has index (1) on the source page, but there is an image above it in the second page, and so I have two figure 1 images on the page with the experiment. My question is if you transclude a section, do you lose control over the image number, the x in \(\PageIndex{x}\) of the page you are transcluding? (2) are there other reasons you would not want to transclude a page into part of a different page? My thoughts are techiques like using a pipet could be written in the general info section, and then transcluded into each experiment that uses them. Or should I just reference the general section page. My concern is I have students who will not leave the lab page they are doing, and who will not remember things like proper pipetting techniques. Any ideas/suggestions? Cheers, Bob Dr. Robert E. Belford Professor UALR Department of Chemistry 501 916-6540

If the book is public and the coverpage is set, then you get an option to add them in the Developer panel of the sidebar. They also are generated when we compile. Delmar On 12/4/2021 9:01 AM, Josh Halpern via
