Yeah. This is a flaw in the way handle author bars. Keep it as is and we will address soon.

Author bar not working for pages remixed in other libraries #remix

smmuller@...

I'm remixing across libraries and ran into a problem with the author bar. The original page in the mathematics library has an author bar for Oscar Levin:
After remixing it in a text in the engineering library, the author bar is blank except for the words "Contributed by":
I'm not seeing an option for Oscar Levin in the engineering library's author list. Is there a way to add it, or should I just put the author in a Contributors section at the bottom of the page?

Multiple back browser button steps required

Mark Baillie

Hi yall,

I am remixing a page that seems to have an issue, which only appears on certain computers.

The issue is that when you click on a link, it seems to take you there 2 to 4 times. Here is what I see once I get to the page and right click on the “back” button in my browser for the one that seems to have taken you to Inclusivity 4 times!:

See how it shows the same site for the first 3 back options (that is the site I am currently on). On my browser (chrome on a MacBook Pro), it understands that these are duplicates and hence it sends me back 4 layers there to get back to the actual previous page. However, a colleague of mine has a PC running chrome, and her back browser button takes her back one step, and ends at the same page she is currently on. She has to go back 4 times to actually go back.

This is occurring for some of the pages we have, but not all of them.

Here are the trouble pages:

This is true on all clones we made from this parent site, which also has the same issue for the same 3 pages within it:

Any idea why it is creating these extra steps, and how to get rid of it? We are planning on making another 8 clones of this parent site, so hopefully we can remedy it before doing that.

Thanks!

Re: A way to search inside a specific LibreTexts book

Anna Mills

I just searched the Construction Guide using this technique and found very little using Google but much more with Duck Duck Go.  I was looking for information on headers with this search string:

h1 site:libretexts.org inurl:Remixer_University inurl:Construction

Glad to know about Duck Duck Go!

That is if you break the alphabetical organization of the chapters in your book (via the drag boxes). The unorder page resets it (this is best for books so that CANVAS pulls in what you see).

I doubt this will be a problem. Give me a few weeks to address or I will hand off to someone to team to get it out there soon. The platform is designed for this flexibility. I just have to flesh out the different table styles.

I just ran into this too.  It would be great to have the option for the <dd> elements to show automatically or have that be the default.
I'm trying to use it in the practice exercise at the bottom of this page: https://human.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Composition/Advanced_Composition/Book%3A_How_Arguments_Work_-_A_Guide_to_Writing_and_Analyzing_Texts_in_College_(Mills)/09%3A_How_Arguments_Establish_Trust_and_Connection/9.05%3A_Respect_and_Goodwill
Thanks,

Re: Gridline in table? #templates #Figures #Formatting

moja@...

That'd be cool!

APA Style requires the last row to have a gridline on the bottom (or the row before the Notes), so an option to underline a cell or row would be nice.  An option to have all gridlines visible would work for that and other situations.

I like your thinking!

If people want to throw into this thread their preferences for table styles, I can build them and you just have to select the one you want in the table properties. No need to edit the HTML for this sort of thing (let the system's CSS system handle it for you).

It worked!  Thanks, Josh!  I wasn't going to the page with the anchor on the search screen first.

Thanks, Josh.  I am not familiar with Duck Duck Go but will check it out.
The page I read was https://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_google_site_search_look_constrain_subdirectory/

I was able to get a list of pages from my book that reference fallacies by putting this search string into Google to look for results with my name as author in the URL:

fallacies site:libretexts.org inurl:Mills

Anna

Re: A way to search inside a specific LibreTexts book

There are two ways of doing this. One is to use the advanced search page

Another (which is the one Anna pointed to is to use search operators in the search line in google.com

you can create complex search strings using the operators that are given in her link.

For restricting the search to libretexts I have had better luck with duck duck go than google

Hi Michelle,

Having established the anchor, in the editor select the text you want to link to the anchor, then click on the link symbol in the blue editor bar or go <cntl> K. The dialog will appear

Fill in the url for the page with the anchor you want (you can use the search to find the url by entering the title of that page). Pull down the menu from Jump to anchor or section, and click on the section or anchor. All sections labelled by headings will appear as well as all anchors. Once you get the hang of the Search and Browse it is pretty easy

Hi all,

I saw in a webinar sometime how to anchor, but I can't figure it out now.  I've created an anchor and named it, but I don't know how to link to it from another section of the text.  I'm not sure where to look in the Construction Guide or the training pages; can someone point me in the correct direction?  Right now, I'm just linking back to the whole page.

Thanks!
