Not yet. We have that in our queue.

Adding Footnotes

Sadia Mahtaban

Hi,
Is there a specific format for adding footnotes? The author reuses the same symbols within the same chapter so there are multiple footnotes throughout the page.

Thank you,

Embedding pdb

Edited

I have PDB files that I'd like to embed. But they don't exist on the PDB (ie they do not exist in an online database). Is there a way to embed such a pdb structure?

Thanks, Josh.  Yes, it would be great to have a linked copy in the courses area.

Your book is in the download center and you can download it from

Some work is being done on the pdf bar and the sidebar, so I assume that is the problem.

Also: Currently your book is in the bookshelves/composition area

and your campus shell only has the url. If you want I can make a linked (transcluded) copy in your campus shell so the entire book appears there

I forced a recompile of the book to regenerate all the exports. I presume this will fix the 404.

It also seems that at least in one chapter of one book my attributions are all broken and the links gone.

Here is what they should look like - scroll to the bottome
BUT - in this chapter one of the other pages is broken

So I just ran into this problem again....
1) On LibreText server I do NOT see the image at all

2) In Canvas (via Chrome browser) I do not see it either.

I have attached screen shots with browser console for both LibreText and Chrome

For now I have NOT fixed this one in case we need additional information

Hmm the grey box usually indicates that the Mindtouch platform believes it is a broken/inaccessible image, even though when looking at the page normally we see them.

I see you had a previous thread going. Could you verify that all of these assertions are true?
  1. As far as you know, there have never been problems when viewing directly on the site.
  2. When viewing in Canvas, it used to be fine but stopped working.
  3. The issue remains broken unless you update the file, at which point it works again.
Assertion (2) would indicate that the iframing process may be generating the issue (various CORS issues), but this doesn't explain why updating the file fixes it. What would be most useful for me I think would be next time you see the issue would be to send me a screenshot of the Browser console (F12) since it should list any problems such as CORS. If this issue still isn't solvable, I am available for a Zoom so that I can see the issue and debug it directly.

At least with my Windows 10 computer with Chrome Version Version 84.0.4147.135 and then 85.0.4183.83, I was unable to personally replicate the issue both normally and when viewing through Canvas even though the issue obviously exists.

Let me know about this information and then we can move forward with debugging this!

We could revert to a previous version and see if the problem still exists. If so, we can troubleshoot it and then revert back.

Re: Interesting things happening...why??

In Linux I can see them fine in Google Chrome Version 80.0.3987.149 (Official Build) (64-bit)

In Windows 10 - Chrome Version 84.0.4147.125 (Official Build) (64-bit) - it doesn't show up (see attached.).

The next page (URL above) the image is gone as well. There are no more images in that chapter.  I walked through pages into the next chapter and find the images are appearing as normal in the next chapter.

ok. Let's keep this like this for now and if you see it again, add to this thread. I can rip apart things and will if this is a reoccurring issue.

Can I turn off the "annotate / highlight" popup?

pbmac

When I select a word or paragraph in LibreText a little window pops up that says "Annotate    Highlight"

Is there a way to turn that off? When I am creating videos for my courses and want to emphasize something on the page its a distraction and would like to turn it off.

Just curious

1: With current version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via LibreTexts URLs
Yes...

2: With current version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via embedded pages in canvas
Yes...but for MacOS and Windows 10 I had to go into editor on LibreTexts and re-attach the image.

When you say "last version" - you are referring to the last version of???
3: With last version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via LibreTexts URLs
Never had any problems that I remember with images before...
4: With last version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via embedded pages in canvas
Yes...have always been able to see images.

I will keep an eye on the content and see if I see any oddities as I continue to work on this.

ok. This is weird and requires attention. Clerificaitons:

1: With current version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via LibreTexts URLs
2: With current version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via embedded pages in canvas
3: With last version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via LibreTexts URLs
4: With last version: Can you see images on all OSs directly via embedded pages in canvas

I noticed the accessibility team changing an alt-text on your page, but that shouldn't cause this.
I will want to debug your page a bit (E.g., revert changes and see effects), but I can revers to final version as needed

2: Yes, I am playing with global CSS to render a bit better and distinguished headers <h2> vs <h3> (instead of just size). I am adverse to using numbers for aesthetics. You don't like?

Interesting things happening...why??

pbmac

I am curious about 2 things.
1) I think this is similar to what was brought up a couple of weeks ago. My images are missing when I access the pages in Chrome on a Mac or on Widows.I have no problem seeing the images https://eng.libretexts.org/Courses/Delta_College/C_-_Data_Structures/02%3A_C_Pointers/2.01%3A_Pointer_Review   in LibreText. I compiled and exported to Canvas, and initially they were fine (I think) - but this morning the image did NOT appear. It was still present in LibreText, and in Chrome on Linux. But MacOS and Windows 10 both did not display the image. Once I went in and simply added the image back it shows up in the MacOS and Windows browser

2) did the default color for H1 switch to orange?? All of my H1 are now orange
https://eng.libretexts.org/Courses/Delta_College/Linux_OERI_Grant/Module_05%3A_File_and_Directory_Management/1.02%3A_Creating_and_Editing_Text_files_-_Vim_Editor/1.02.02%3A_Vim_-_Visual_Mode

Thanks
Pat

Re: Alternative to Mathpix

Breanna,

Sign up with your .edu account and you get another 100 snips, for a total of 150 snips per month for free…over 2 accounts though.

Another alternative would be InftyEditor, but there is a price for it.

I remember benetech having a web based tool for submitting math images, but it converts the math to MathML, not LaTeX…more complex math code.

Joshua

Hi everyone,

There are a lot of math equations on the project I am working on. I have previously been using the Mathpix snipping tool to convert the equations to Latex.  However, it seems there are only 50 free snips per month.  Are there alternatives to the Mathpix snipping tool?

Thanks,

Breanna Yang
